Delia*s Look Book

Delia*s just released an online holiday look book. The general idea is cute, but most of the styling is overdone or just plain bad. In my own opinion, of course. However, I really like the above two looks. My outfits are often made up of two contrasting looks, and I think these Delia*s outfits pull it off very well. The first look shows how to balance the menswear-inspired (the tweed dress) with the ultra-femenine (the ruffled shirt). The second look shows how to mix the girly (the floaty dress) with the tough (the jacket). Perfect! Well, almost...

Also, I'm really liking the black gloves and gold shoes. I may need to buy them.

I like the looks and balance, I think it would help if the colors weren't so stark.

I'm particularly fond of the second look-- it's almost got a Young Carrie Bradshaw-esque-ness about it. I'm not crazy about the hood on the coat, but I love the leather and peach together. And I disagree with the Clothes Horse-- I think the starkness is what makes it so attractive. Then you can focus on the little details, like the gathering on the jacket and the lace on the skirt.

I am pleasantly surprised to see this coming from Delia's. I am 26 so, you can imagine that I would not normally order anything from Delia's, but this stuff is very cute!! I will have to check it out. = )

I find the dress on the left to be pretty cute, even though I'd never wear it.
