Le New Bag

I have a confession to make. On a day-to-day basis, the bag I most often carry is... deep breath... a knockoff. I didn't realize this when I bought it, but my crappy black $20 bag with its fetching gold hardware is a dead ringer for the Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag. Well, design-wise, I mean. It is clearly lacking in the real-looking leather and workmanship departments. Anyway, I've been meaning to replace it for ages, and the fact that the PVC exterior started peeling away from the lining was just the impetus I needed to find a replacement.

I'm very particular about my bags, though, and the faux Balenciaga had really been working out for me. The replacement, I decided, had to be the same colors and roughly the same size. In the end, I lucked out when a return trip (as in, I was making returns) to Zara yielded just the purse I was looking for. Look how pretty:

It may be faux leather too, but it looks quite real. Not to mention the quality is eons better, and the fact that it has a sweet vintage design and adjustable strap. I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself; can you tell?

Also, this is my first fashion-y purchase in ages, and I do believe I've missed that having-new-things-to-wear/carry feeling.

Anyone else buy something great recently?

Just bought an adorable pair of pumps and now have ruined feet as a result of wearing them too far the first time and without stockings. Le sigh. : )

I actually just bought a new purse as well! Though I used the holiday/not having bought myself a 25th birthday or graduation present as a time to splurge... plus it was 50% off! Yours was a great choice, especially for the price!

It seems we always find the best bags when we're really not looking for them!

I finally gave in and bought the fringe-y outfit from Express that was part of their summer party line. I fist spotted it in June and said, "damn, that would make an amazing flapper costume." It's a terrible thing to say at an expensive store like Express, but I've kept my eyes on it since. I ultimately got it for 27 dollars, marked down from what probably would have been 160, I think. It's hot pink, fringey, and roaringly 20s.

Claire - I think that's a mistake we've all made. But the feet heal, and the shoes continue to be adorable...

Ashe Mischief - Congratulations on the graduation and birthday! Huh, I thought for sure there was a greater age difference than 6 years between us. (Not that you look old or anything...you just have a very eloquent, well-developed writing style.) Anyway, I hope the purse has been displayed on your blog; am off to check!

Cyberta - Ha, me too! I'll check it out when I get a chance, although I'm not much of a beauty maven.

dramakaraliene - I think I know what you're talking about; I saw it and felt a very strong compulsion to buy it as well! What a fantastic bargain too; you lucked out! You will have to model it for me at some point:)
