I'm really glad this street style photo of Sara Sanskara caught my attention, because I think her clothing line is quite beautiful.

Pretty, huh? I love how the lace, ruffles, and floral prints are tempered by asymmetrical hems for a sorta funky hippie appeal. I'd wear these dresses with chunky, tough-looking boots and messy hair. Yum.

Primal Shopping Urges

Last weekend my friend and I had a fabulously successful shopping day. We were vaguely in the market for some kind of dress to wear to Senior Night (I'm not really sure what it is, but I've been told the dress code is semi-formal.) Mostly, though, we were just shopping because we felt like shopping. It's a primal urge among fashion bloggers, I've been told.

My purchases: A pair of light blue, thin (and therefore perfect for summer), comfy, baggy jeans on sale for $4.99 (!), a gorgeous halter top discounted to a reasonable price, a cute belt, the world's softest white tee, and a dress that I had to have, even if it's not as summery or casual as what I was looking for.

I've been meaning to photograph my two favorite purchases for you all week, but I only just got to it. Better late than never, eh?

Here's that amazing halter top:

Gorgeous, right? I'm in love! In addition to the beautiful pattern, there is beading below the bust and the straps are made of braided fabric.

My other new love is my dress:

I really had no choice in this purchase. My friend tried it on and it didn't work on her, so I tried it on for the hell of it and was pleasantly surprised. It was amazingly comfortable, reasonably priced, and made my butt look bigger. And when I say bigger, I mean in a good way, not an I-ate-too-many-Cheetos way. Seriously, they should label the thing "Insta - Badonkadonk."

Or not. I mostly just said that because I wanted to use the word "badonkadonk." You know how it is.

Oh, and by the way, I didn't just suddenly lose my bangs. I like to wear them pushed to the side occasionally, just for a change. And yes, I really am that pale.

Special Clothing

Susie Bubble pointed out the sheer-sleeved dress Selma Blair is wearing in the new Dazed and Confused, and it reminded me a lot of another sheer-sleeved dress. Or rather, Dress. Everyone has an extremely special item of clothing in their closets, and for me, it's the dress I wore at my Bat Mitzvah, even though it no longer fits. It's the most expensive dress I've ever bought, and although I don't recognize the brand, it was imported from Paris. It's very unique, with silky wine-colored fabric, embroidery around the neck, and sheer lace-edged sleeves. I knew I wanted it the instant I saw it on the rack at this cute little dress boutique, and it fit me perfectly. It brings back such good memories, too. Here's a crappy scanned picture of the top half of it on my 13-year-old self:



One of the reasons I love this dress is because it was the first unique item of clothing I ever bought. Everyone else wore smart little suits or plain skirts and tops, and I decided that I wanted something less corporate-looking. It was my Bat Mitzvah, after all. I'm glad I was brave enough to wear it, because I was in my awkward adolescent stage where I mostly tried to fit in. I'm glad I broke the mold. The fitting in thing didn't really work out for me.

The other reason I love this dress is because I think it's gorgeous.

New Dress, DIY Headband

I have a new summer dress. It's a gently used Soundgirl dress I bought it off of Ebay for $16, including the $7 shipping fee. Not bad, eh? I love it! You can't see in the picture, but the print is little pink hearts that look sort of like flowers with green stems on a white background. The color scheme of the pattern reminded me of the dress on the cover of the most recent Lula magazine, so I felt a sudden urge to wear the Erin Featherston flower headband shown on the cover with my new purchase. Of course, that wasn't an option. Instead, I used a broken pearl/clear bead necklace and a piece of thin, flexible wire to make a headband. I wrapped the ends of the wire around the ends of the broken necklace and ended up with a headband that mildly resembled the Erin Featherston one. I quite like it.



There are three things I feel required to do in this ensemble:
1) Go to a wedding
2) Frolick barefoot in the grass
3) Have a tea party

I feel all festive now. Maybe I should go accomplish task #3?

I Have Found Love and It is Beautiful

Oh. My. Word. Have you ever seen such beautiful, fanciful dresses? I was stunned into a glory-stuck, dazed silence when I found the dress section of Armour sans Anguish. And for a good reason, I might add. These pieces of wearable art look like they stepped right out of a fairy tale. I may never be able to afford them because most of them are over $100, but I can at least look at them online and drink in their gorgeousness. Aaah. Love love love. Most of the dresses pictured above have already been purchased (I'm not surprised), but if you look carefully you can find some just waiting for your eager and impulsive mouse hand to give the 'buy' button a click.



See? Look how dreamy that is. I want it more than I can say.

I think this kind of dress love is unhealthy. I should probably save the love for family members and possibly a significant other. Oh well. Don't tell my parents that they've been replaced.
