Abaete for Payless Vintage Holiday '07 Collection

I'm kind of enamoured of the most recent shoes from Abaete's Payless collection.

I especially love the crinkly ones:

I'm sure that, like all the other designer diffusion Payless lines, the shoes looks cheap in person. However, I'm lusting after the pumps and just might have to check them out.

I like the description of the line, too. "Laura Poretzky’s limited edition Abaeté for Payless Vintage Holiday 07 Collection honors the glitz and glam of ’50s American film."

Abaete for Payless Fall Collection

Abaete's fall collection for Payless has finally arrived, and its...tacky. Again. I don't understand why Laura Poretzky just can't seem to get her Payless line right. It's truly a disappointment. I suppose that the shoes are, in fact, more interesting than the usual Payless shoes, and a few of them are actually quite attractive. Yet the patent leather and lucite and metallic combination just isn't doing much for me. Too many trends on a little shoe.

Now, to start the pictures off on a positive note, these shoes are one of the few that I actually like. Aren't they pretty? Love 'em!

It would also be unfair to criticise these. They're not great, but not offensive either.
Ewww. These are tacky and ugly and will make your feet look like triangles.

Again, eww. Loafers gone bad.
These don't look so bad at first glance, but the patent zip-off top makes me cringe.
Sooooo tacky! Yuck!

I like this bag, though. The rest of the accessories were fairly basic sunglasses and an ugly clutch.

Alright, so I'm not too impressed with Abaete for Payless. Let's hope that Lela Rose and Patricia Field's lines will be much better. I definitely trust Patricia to do a good job (Have you seen Sex & the City and The Devil Wears Prada? The woman's a genius!), but I don't know very much about Lela Rose. As for Abaete, well, let's just say I've given up.

Abaete for Payless: The Summer Collection

Well, Abaete's summer collection for Payless has arrived, and I have mixed feelings about it. The collection is a somewhat cheap-looking jumble of translucent vinyl and patent leather, and it looks nothing like the previous collection did. I'm entirely underwhelmed by the bags and sunglasses, but a few of the shoes caught my eye.

I could be totally wrong, but these platform wedges look like something Susie Bubble (of Style Bubble) would wear. And since I really admire the outfits she puts together, I find myself drawn to them. I think they're the most unique shoe in the collection.

These slingbacks feature a peep toe and hot pink patent leather. What's not to like?

The rest of the shoes seemed pretty tacky, at least to me. And while I like the two pairs above, I don't think I'll be purchasing either one. I have an unfortunate inability to walk in such high heels.

So, what are your thoughts on the Abaete for Payless summer collection? See the rest of the collection here and let me know what you think.

The Verdict: Abaete for Payless

Today the Abaete for Payless spring collection finally arrived! After waking up this morning, I raced to the computer and logged on to payless.com like a little girl on Christmas morning (though I am, in fact, Jewish). At first I was surprised. Where were all the styles shown previously on the Payless website? Although I was disapointed by the lack of those amazing white boots (maybe they're part of the fall collection?), I soon found more shoes to be excited about. You have to admit...the flower cutouts on a few of the shoes and handbags are quite adorable. And while I'm not a huge fan of the ones with the tropical floral print, I can see where they'd be comfortable and breezy...perfect for late spring and early summer. There was one lone pair of flats that didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the collection, but I do think that they are cute and ideal for hot wheather because of some cutouts and a peep toe. All in all, a nice selection of shoes. And all for $20.00 or less, which is the best part : )

Haha...patheticness...leaving a coupon code for my non-existant readers...
