Circus Pinup

NEET Magazine seems to get better and better with every issue. The most recent one, which dropped yesterday, is the best yet! One of my favorite parts was the circus-inspired photo shoot using clothing from Lullie Vintage.

Not only does the shoot play on my love of circus-inspired fashion, which I wrote about here, but it is also full of the kind of girlish, care-free whimsy that makes me ooh and ah.

The Lullie Vintage sites, when I practically raced to check them out, sported what I will now dub "circus pinup" - fabulous!

To continue the saga, these photos reminded me of a beloved set of photos in Missbehave Magazine, especially these two:

"Carnival Boudoir" was full of some great shots, and I thought it was quite unique. Which is why I'm so tickled to see the styling has found its twin in Lullie Vintage.

Just some inspirational pictures for you to ponder. I'm exhausted from another shoe-shopping extravaganza. At least I managed to pick up these lovelies, which I know will look fantastic with my dress.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm a sucker for studs. And sales. And gladiators.

"The Indie Bible for Babes with Attitude"

Okay, I just discovered this fantastic online magazine Mookychick, and I am totally enamored with it. I love the style section, which is unique, fun, creative, and informative; it boasts articles on everything from Harajuku fashion and making your own hair falls to burlesque style, colored contact lenses, and the art of corsetry. Love! The health and beauty section is equally wonderful. On a non fashion-y side note, I am completely intrigued by the spirituality section (I am a nut who is always experimenting with that kind of stuff), and all of the other sections are amazing. I love Mookychick, and as far as I'm concerned, it can do no wrong. Which is saying a lot, since I first read it today.

Well, in honor of all the articles I've read today on Mookychick, I'm off to take a spiritual bath! And tomorrow, I think I'll keep burlesque style in mind when getting dressed. Red lips and nails, baby!

Yet Another Online Magazine

When I first heard of the newly-launched Clutch magazine, I knew I needed to check it out. I was surprised to find a few very distinct differences between Clutch and online magazines that I was already familliar with, such as Neet. First of all, the format is completely different. Clutch is less like a magazine and more like a blog separated into several categories, like Fashion, Beauty, etc. Also, Clutch definitely contains simillar content to magazines such asLucky and Cosmo...it doesn't seem to have the penchant for small independent businesses and cheap stuff that Neet has. This isn't necessarily bad, just different. The only truly unique thing about Clutch (that I have noticed so far) is a monthly listing of featured blogs. This is great, because I'm always on the lookout for new blogs to read. I wasn't very impressed with the Fashion section of Clutch, because it contained 'trend-alerts' that other bloggers have been posting about for months - metallics, neon colors, etc. Still, the beauty section was fairly good, and I would definitely reccomend checking in once a month to see if there are any articles that interest you in the newest issue. Hey, it's free, what've you got to lose?

Free Online Fashion Mags

I'm really liking this new trend of free online fashion mags. I've been reading Neet since it came out, but the Free People Blog just clued me into yet another one, Amour. It's not as good for me as Neet, because it's British and I can't buy most of the stuff in it until I can pull together enough money to go on vacation there, but it's still a fun read. It has also made me realize that I desperately want a Primark nearby. Le sigh...

I have quickly become a hardcore Neet fan. I love that almost everything listed in it is both quirky and affordable. Most magazines are chock full of stuff that makes me long to crack into my college savings account. But no...with the help of Neet (and maybe now Amour), I will be strong and build a wardrobe with character. And a fuller wallet.
