Ever since Lala (top right) posted an outfit that she put together with vertically striped tights, this kind of leg wear has been on my mind. There's a lot of potential to look like a circus performer when wearing them, but if you can pull them off, I think they look awesome. I love them in black, and I think that that beautiful jade green tulip skirt (top left) offsets them perfectly.

Patricia Field for Payless: For Sale!

Saki Pump, $40


Sushi boot, $55

I don't love the Sushi boot, but I think the Saki pump is pretty cute, even if it's an ankle-breaker. The designs strike me as very playful, and very Patricia. I love the names of the shoes, too; so far I know that three of the shoe names are Saki, Sushi, and Tempora. Super fun!

I'm hoping that Payless steps it up this time. I saw Lela Rose's line in the store a few weeks ago and was sorely disappointed at how cheap it looked.

A Trip to Kohl's

I had a fairly uneventful weekend, but I managed to slip in a quick trip to Kohl's. Most of the stuff there was tacky (as usual), but there were a few gems to be found. I came away with those boots I had been coveting:



And this purse:



The boots are extremely comfy, as well as (I think) rather awesome-looking, and they were only $31 on sale! They remind me of the boots I saw a lot of the Teen Vogue Staff wearing at Fashion U, only I think theirs were either Marc by Marc or Chloe and had a much taller heel. I've also seen similar boots doing the rounds on editorials and gracing the feet of the lovely Agyness Deyn. I totally love them, seriously. I've been clomping around the house in them all day, admiring the satisfying sound they make as they smash against the floor. My family does not seem to appreciate this as much as I do. The bag was something I really didn't need, but it was $11 and I couldn't reign myself in. I find it adorable, classic, and fun. I can take it anywhere!

(Pssst...the dress is semi-new from Loehmann's. It's a bit too fancy for day wear, but I love it!)

Anyway, the moral of the story is that Kohl's actually had some really cute shoes (In addition to the boots, I was lusting after some cranberry-colored patent t-strap heels, but I couldn't justify buying them), and a bunch of cute handbags (If you like the studs trend that's going on right now, there are a bunch of wonderful black Daisy Fuentes bags I was eyeing.) Plus, everything's on sale! The clothes aren't even worth a look, but if bargainous shoes and accessories are what you're looking for, get thee to Kohl's!

"I went with a crisp, white women's shirt (my husband is 6'3' and I just couldn't conceive of how to wear one of his shirts in an appealing way). I also chose to 'simply pair it with items in [my] wardrobe' because I am not exactly a seamstress :) I still hope you like it."

"I have a pretty organic approach to reconstructing/redesigning items. I investigate the seams and initial construction a lot before beginning, so that I can work as much as possible with the original integrity of thegarment. I favor clean, long lines. I began by removing the sleeves, because I like the lay of the shoulder length. Then I took in the sides to slim the piece and create a pseudo capped sleeve. Next the collar was reshaped and a colored button added to create a visual interest at the top, and some freehand, top-stitching was done to add a bit O' texture to the front panels. Finally, I used the sleeves as ties on the back. Leaving the cuffs with buttons and all, seemed a fun homage to the garment's previous life."

Hooray for Jenn and Audrey! How fantastic do they look?! Don't you just feel all inspired to create/send in your own entries?! I know I do. I deserve a few blows for not posting my own entry yet, seeing as I'm the one who is running this Challenge. A Wish List

I am determined to post something, but the truth is I've been terribly busy and devoid of fashion inspiration. I thought it could never happen, but I've been listlessly scrolling through the blogs on my Google Reader, fashion spreads, online stores, various fashion websites, and all of the places I usually get post material from without finding anything that makes me jump up and down in excitement. If anyone finds something particularly exciting and fashion-y, please send it to me and help me get out of this slump! My brain is dying here! (Okay, not literally, but I just wrote the world's most boring paper and it made my mind feel like it had turned to mush, also not literally)

Mudd Sorcery Midcalf Combat Boots

I know it's silly, but after those $7.00 Hot Topic combat boots sold out in my size, I've had an unquenchable desire to buy something similar to the Combat Boots That Got Away. And of course everything I find is over $7.00. Damn my hesitation! Anyway, I like these boots 'cause they're the first footwear I've seen in a while with non-flat heels I can actually walk in. Not badly priced, either.

Mighty Fine Tuxedo Tee

For some reason, tuxedo tees always seem to be calling my name. They are tacky in the best possible way. (Psst...Speaking of Hot Topic, the World's Most Terrifying Model has set up camp on the Hot Topic webpage. All red eyebrows and fearsome clown-like makeup, she is truly something to be reckoned with.)

I was going to continue my wish list with a few other slightly boring items, but it occurs to me that the boots, hat, and tee-shirt above would make a fantastically quirky outfit, if paired with practically any kind of skirt or pants. I'm picturing them with some sort of acid wash breeches-type things. Dear God. I don't know where that came from.
