Chloe Sevigny for Bass

I cannot stop thinking about these shoes. Love the many silver-tipped straps, the shiny black leather, &  the sky-high wedge that would cause me to fall considerably more often than usual. Love that they're not feminine or masculine, that they aren't casual or dressy; they are wonderfully ambiguous. 

Also, I assume, expensive. 

Pshh, keep your wonderfully ambiguous / assumed expensive shoes, Miss Sevigny! For the sake of my bank account, I will drool over my keyboard and write love letters blog posts on their multi-buckled glory.

Oh, how I suffer.

Patty Does It Again

Walking past the Payless at the mall, I did a literal double-take when I saw these shoes in the window. After that, it was only a matter of two seconds of gawking before I wrapped a hand around my friend's wrist and yanked her toward the entryway of the store.

The Patricia Field label made sense. The platform, the super-high heel, and the studs certainly meshed with her fashion sensibilities, not to mention that had the shoes been a typical Payless brand I would have been absolutely shocked. The shoes look good in person; the leather is clearly faux up close, but the design appeals to me regardless. What can I say; when it comes to boots, I'm all for studs and leather. And the fact that the strap on the heel reminds me of the visor on a knight's helmet? That's just a plus.

You know with that heel height I will not be walking in these, but I still plan to try these on the next chance I get, just in case. They aren't available on the Payless site yet, but you can find them on Patricia Field's site, along with the rest of her new Payless collection (which, to be honest, isn't that impressive). And if you happen to be in the area, they are currently on sale at the Natick Collection.

Random addition: Rumi could make these absolutely killer.

Apparently I'm Shallow

I'm going to be very honest here:

There isn't a lot I wouldn't do for these shoes.

I think I felt my dignity slipping the second I clicked through the Style.com lookbook, to be replaced with pure, unadulterated shoelust. Carrie Bradshaw has nothing on me - well, nothing except for a wallet equiped with the means to buy such expensive footwear.

Solestruck

I think I might be a bad person.

Solestruck.com gifted me a gorgeous pair of shoes a few weeks ago, and after receiving them, oohing and aahing, and spending some quality time prancing around the house and sticking my feet out for others to admire, I promptly forgot to post about them. Whoops!

Am currently remedying the situation.

These heels by Faryl Robin have a vintage-y, whimsical feel that I really love. They're quite different from the rest of my shoe collection, which tends to be black and slightly punk-ish (think combat boots and studded gladiators), but I can hardly be expected to stick with one aesthetic when there are so many shoes out there! And all right, so walking is a bit of a challenge as my balance is pretty bad in flat shoes, but hey, I like to live dangerously. They're not the comfiest things in the world either, but they're so pretty I don't care. I blame my weirdly shaped feet.

I picked these shoes out from the hundreds of options offered on Solestruck.com, and I'll have you know it was not an easy choice. It was a dizzying experience; it's cliche, but I felt kind of like a kid in a candy store. The selection there is extensive, and much cheaper than you would think. Very reasonable, actually. And the shipping was so fast! I'm a fan - and not just 'cause they gave me free shoes.

I Never Learn

I am always sucked into these designers for Payless collections, even though they always disappoint me.

But honestly, who wouldn't be sucked in by these shoes? Granted, there's an extremely good chance that a) they will look horribly tacky in person or b) cause excessive wobbling/twisted ankles, but I figure they're worth a trip to the local Payless.

I am excitedly awaiting Alice & Olivia's Fall collection for Payless as well. I want these in the grey (suede?) material:

Stacy Bendet seems to have quite a penchant for sky-high heels, no? I like the look, but the loss of an inch would be a life-saver. Or rather, a foot-saver.

Not Your Grandma's Loafers

I have something to admit. I've been lusting over (cringe) loafers. Before you write me off as someone with bad taste in footwear, I'd like to point out that pretty, feminine, candy-colored loafers are the ones catching my eye. Loafers like these:

Of course, I can't help but adore the more expensive blue suede ones, but they sadly aren't available in my size. However, the cheep Charlotte Russe ones are awful cute. I'm loving the chains with the little hearts!

So, what do you think? Can loafers be a "fashion do" after all?

Who Would've Thought

I'm really digging these flats, soon to be available from Ugg Australia. I am not an Ugg fan at all, but these are really sweet. A little bit girly, a little bit nerdy, and lined with cozy shearling - how could I not like them? I hope they're not too expensive; I want a pair!

A Shoe Post

Aaah, shoes. I will be forever obsessed with you.

These shoes make me think of Marie Antoinette:

Do not ask questions, young grasshopper. I know not why they bring to mind the young queen. But they are decadent, and if Marie Antoinette lived in the modern world and actually had a budget, I think they would surely grace her feet.

I can't stop thinking about these Dries van Noten shoes:

Aren't they glorious? But even on sale, they are still $511, so they will have to remain a distant dream.

And now- to buy, or not to buy, that is the question:

On sale for $19.99, these babies are a deal. Real leather, and very lovely. The only issue is the heel - 3.5" and wooden. I am terrible at walking (or shall we say tottering) on heels. I've been meaning to practice my heel-walking skills, but are 3.5" heels really the best choice? And aren't wooden heels even harder to walk on then non-wooden heels? Help me out here, lovelies.

The Shoes Part 2

Look what we have here! Don't these shoes remind you a wee bit of The Shoes I've been lusting over? Sure, they're higher with wingtip detailing, and they're missing that glorious patent, but I still quite like them. And they're much prettier than the Urban Outfitters version.

Okay, so I probably won't buy them. But it's nice to know they're out there, just in case I change my mind...

The Shoes

Readers, meet The Shoes.

I adore them. I want to wear them. They are calling to me in a soft, cooing tone, saying "We belong on your feet!"

It's not necessarily the black patent I love, but the shape. So I went on a search for affordable shoes with a similar shape. All I found were these:

On sale for $19.99 at Urban Outfitters, they are certainly within budget. But the question remains: are they chic or heinous? I can't decide. On first glance, I thought U-u-u-gly, but they have definitely grown on me. I could picture them looking great with black tights and little grey herringbone plaid shorts.

More importantly, are there other, less debatable shoes that will give me a similar look on a budget?

I'll be searching...

Sorry If My Blog Has Been Shoe-Heavy Lately...

I'm off to upstate NY early tomorrow morning, and I'll be back on Monday. I'm not expecting to find internet access, so no posts tomorrow.

I have a question for all my stylish readers, so I guess I'll leave you with it.

First of all, you should know that my brain immediately went to that what-do-I-wear place after registering for Teen Vogue's Fashion U. It made me realize that my shoe wardrobe is pitifully inadequite for this kind of event. My only comfortable shoes are my three pairs of Chuck Taylor All Stars. I have a few other pairs of shoes, but they are cheap and uncomfortable. I can almost hear you gasping in horror right now. But yes, I must admit that my shoe wardrobe is just sad. It's easy to pick up a ton of cheap dresses and still feel comfortable, but cheap shoes? Not so much. I think it's time to invest in a pair that costs more than $20. I want a beautiful, comfortable pair of shoes. I think my limit price-wise is about $70, since I'm kinda broke, but I think I can do a lot with that. I want to order online, which is always risky, since you can't try them on first, and I want to avoid huge Zappos-type websites that are just overwhelming. So, my question to you is this: Where can I find cute, comfortable shoes online for $70 or under? Any specific pairs you'd suggest? Be a doll and help me out. Please and thank you!

I don't know about comfortable, but I do know about beautiful. Ideally, I'd sport these:



They have a very low heel that I know I could walk around the city in (which is very important) and are this rich, gorgeous purple. I've definitely been feeling purple lately. Not just any purple, but the kind of deep purple that evokes mystery and luxury. So these, if they were comfortable (and I have no idea as to their comfort level), would be excellent.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

I'm sorry Ambika....

Shoes have been on the brain lately. They're definitely a neglected part of my wardrobe. I'm very picky about foot comfort, but I just love to look at them. They can be so pretty! I'm especially liking the Bobbi Blu shoes that have been popping up at Lulu's. So whimsical and quirky and lovely. I want them all!



I love how they all have that classic Mary Jane shape -- with a twist. The contrasting colors and materials, the little details, the wearable chunky heels....Well, let's just say I wouldn't mind getting a pair or two (or six!) of these as a gift.

I went to the Bobbi Blu website and found a poem describing the brand:

That's not the whole poem, but I just wanted to give you a sense of the brand. Sigh. Hannukah can't come soon enough.

Tired of Bootie-Hunting Yet?

Yeah, me neither. I've been searching for affordable, fun fall/winter booties like some kind of shoe-crazed bounty hunter. I can't bring myself to look at any summer footwear, hence the fall-related posts of late, and for some reason I can't get high-heeled brogues, oxfords, etc. out of my head. Here are some more finds:

1. Justine heels, $64 Emma Pink How fun are these? They come in pale green, black, and dark chocolate.

2. Parker heels, $39 Mia Shoes Not available till September, but look how nice and glossy and old-fashioned they are.

3. Harlow heels, $39.99 Oh Deer I didn't like these at first, but they're totally growing on me. They come in cream, dark brown, and blue denim, and they've been marked down from $130. Bargain alert!

4. Tribeca heels, $72.95 Zappos Classic and perfect. These also come in brown.

I'm crushing on all of these right now, but chances are that #1 is the only pair I can walk in...

Pretty Shoes at Newport News!

Oh, joyous rhyming title, how you make my heart sing!

But on to some complaining...

I am very frustrated with Newport News. I ordered a swimsuit from their website in mid June, and it never came. Granted, it was on backorder, but I'm still annoyed. I recieved a message saying that it might take a month to arrive instead of the promised two weeks, and then about a week ago I recieved a message saying that the supplier had stopped making the swimsuit. Grrr. I'm pretty sure this was a one-time thing, but I would encourage you never to order something on backorder from Newport News.

That said, I think they've really gotten some nice shoes in for fall...


I usually find peep-toe booties to be kind of...well....dumb, because why on Earth would you want your toes to be unprotected in cold weather? But I love these ones. It would be worth it to wear them with thick knee socks and just suck it up (or sock it up...gotta love those bad puns...), especially since they're only $25.


These are the perfect high-heeled oxfords (so hot right now)...if you can walk in them. Which I can't. But I can still admire their beauty from a distance. $29.99.


Yet another ankle breaker, but still so wonderful. These remind me of the Olsen twins' shoe choices. And at $39.99, they're a good deal.


I would never wear these, but I'm loving the fact that they look like they just soared in from the past. I'm not really well-educated in terms of historical fashion choices, but I could picture these on the feet of some Victorian Lady, or perhaps Marie Antoinette. The right person could totally pull these off. $29.


Last but not least, these shoes are fierce. I don't usually like snakeskin, but the black and gold is so nice here. They would be fantastic with black tights. $34.

If I could walk in any of these shoes, I would be reaching for my credit card and giving Newport News a second chance. Sadly, my klutzy nature seems to be permanent.

Shoe Love

Right now I'm digging unique, quirky shoes that aren't always pretty at first glance. Here are some of my favorites, irregardless of price:


I found these via Style Bubble, and I LOVE them! The perfect mix of femenine and masculine. I don't know where you can buy them (I looked, believe me) or how much they cost, but I do know they are Clark's Originals.


These sandals have a great dorky-ugly-cute vibe that I just adore. You can get them in red, black, green, or brown at Remix Vintage Shoes, which is this great website where they sell new vintage shoes, but they cost a hefty $138.


I want these Urban Outfitters booties for this coming fall, and I guess they're priced somewhat reasonably at $48. They just look so darn cozy! my moon and me rocks similar shoes on wardrobe_remix here, here, and here, if you need proof they can look good.

These Topshop sneakers are hideous! Why do I like them? They're a bit over $130, too, so totally not worth it.

These Topshop Mary-Janes remind me of some Eley Kishimoto shoes I've been coveting, only without the floral print. Slightly over $100, though. Damnit.


Okay, so I don't actually want these, mostly because they would cause me to fall on my ass multiple times. But I find it extremely amusing that ASOS sells roller skates. Teehee.
